10 Winter Photography Prompts

Winter can be a difficult time for inspiration. In this season of drab gray and rainy days, when there’s little light and even less motivation to get outdoors or pick up your camera, you have to find something to keep moving forward. I love photography challenges for this very reason, it’s something to motivate you to pick up your camera and find or make a scene worth photographing. I’ll admit that it isn’t always easy, especially if you’re new to following prompts it can feel really challenging, but I encourage you to take a few quiet minutes out of your day to seek inspiration that aligns with the prompt or something that feels worthwhile. If nothing comes to mind right away, look on Pinterest or saved IG photos for something, anything, that stands out and looks manageable to recreate.

It’s also worth noting that you don’t have to be a photographer to take photos or follow prompts like this. You can still learn to take beautiful photos with your phone. Learning to take good photos, no matter the camera, helps to further your “eye” for capturing all the moments you’d want to take a picture of.

If you do use any of these prompts, I’d love to connect with you and see what you create. Feel free to tag me @rikkirivera on all socials.
